R-value refers to a product's ability to block heat energy transfer in a structure.  The higher the R-value, the greater the resistance to heat flow.  Insulation is installed to stop heat loss from within a structure and heat transfer into a structure from the outside.  A superior insulation system will have a good R-value (prevent heat loss via conduction.)  Spray foam insulation is proven to provide the highest R-values in the industry today.
